Comparison of evaporation
rate from Leucobryum glaucum cushions of different diameters in the field predicted
from the conductance model over a 62 minute period. The average wind speed during the
trial was 0.66 m/s. In the field, differences in boundary layer conductance are not
expressed as predicted by the model. This difference is most likely due to shielding of
moss cushions in the field by the forest boundary layer, not the moss canopy boundary
layer as predicted.
