HST-014:  U.S. History Since the Civil War
Prof. Andrew Morris, Department of History

Americans after the Civil War lived through the transformation from a rural, agrarian society to an urban industrial socieity, and ultimately, by the end of the century, to a suburban, post-industrial society. This course traces the evolution of American society during the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries, with particular attention to the evolution of the American economy, the experience of American workers, the struggle for inclusion by racial minorities and women, and the growth of the federal government.
